It's ours!

We did the walk through.  It looks great.  The painters were there doing last minute touch ups (which is why the ceiling looks wet in the first picture).  We officially get possession at 5pm.

Of the outstanding things from the other day, here is what's left to do.

1. Doors need to be hung upstairs on the bedrooms and closets
2. Closet organizers need to be installed
3. Pantry door (with glass insert) needs to be hung.  Glass for the island liquor cabinet doors need to be installed. - This is on backorder, so we will get a call when Kitchen Craft is ready to install.  Kitchen Craft will also install Crown Molding along the tops of the cabinets at that time as well.
4. Taps installed in Kitchen
5. Toilet on Main floor
6. One last pendant light to be installed over island
7.  Range hood installed
8. Ceiling speakers in ensuite and boys den installed - Accurate will do this at our appointment on August 7.  They have to do the Den and the Outdoor speakers.
9. Chandelier in dining room installed
10. Lock Changed from generic builder locks to our locks.
11. Cleaning - While they did a first clean (looks great). I was told that the cleaner come back this afternoon to do another final cleaning before 5pm today.

OUTSIDE
1. Driveway - This is being done today.  We can't drive on it for 7 days, but you can walk on it after 24 hrs.
2. Air Conditioning - This is being done today at 1:30pm.
3. Stucco/Siding/Final downspouts - This will take place next month
4. Final window cleaning - This will take place after the Stucco Siding
5. Final Grading - Probably in the Spring next year.

TOMORROW!

I can't believe it's almost time.

Walk through is tomorrow at 9am.  Pinch me.

I had dinner plans with Jill last night.  We decided to take a drive by the house.  The guys weren't working, so we stopped and got the key and took a look around.

Floors and Carpet are in.  I really wanted a nice soft carpet for the upstairs.  One that felt kind of squashy under your feet.  I didn't like the upgraded carpet colors, so we went with a standard carpet, but we tricked out the underlay - got the best one they carry.

But I was still unsure how it would feel.   It feels great. Just like I wanted. Yay!

The hardwoods look really nice as well.  Between now and tomorrow evening (when we get the keys) this is what still (as far as I can tell) needs to happen.

1. Doors need to be hung upstairs on the bedrooms and closets
2. Closet organizers need to be installed
3. Pantry door (with glass insert) needs to be hung.  Glass for the island liquor cabinet doors need to be installed.
4. Taps installed in Kitchen
5. Toilet on Main floor
6. One last pendant light to be installed over island
7.  Range hood installed
8. Ceiling speakers in ensuite and boys den installed
9. Chandelier in dining room installed
10. Lock Changed from generic builder locks to our locks.
11. Cleaning.

Cabinets!

Big Day!

Can't wait to go to the house today. We went over last night and just peaked in the Windows because the show home wasn't open to get the keys.

Guess what? Cabinets are in! At least some of the kitchen ones are. Plus I saw a countertop sink cut out, so that means maybe counters are in as well!

Happy Day!

Still haven't fixed the stipple ceiling yet though. Gotta get to that soon!

Come on baby light my fire..

Sometime ago we picked out pendant lights for the house

I liked them because they were different and unique.

Well, was shopping at Costco and lo and behold what did appear, but my pendant lights.  I have to admit, it made me like them WAY less. I can't explain why.  It's like part of the reason I liked them was that they would be so different and knowing that they are common took away a bit of the excitement.

I was still going to get them though.  But when we went to Superlite to pay for them this weekend, she told me that they were having major trouble with them.  She went into some whole big electrical soliloquy about MR16 and GE10 bulbs and how they were having issues with the MR16 and we would potentially have to look at upgrading our wiring to handle it.... blah blah blah.

Since the novelty was starting to wear off on these anyways, we decided to choose different ones altogether.  We got these ones, the sales rep is holding the tag to the ones we got.  They are stainless steel, take any bulb that we want LED etc will match our new appliances and don't require any wiring upgrades.  SOLD.

A Stipple Pickle

Inside of the house got painted this weekend, so we thought we would go check it out.

Looks great.  Except for one thing.

THEY STIPPLED THE F*CKING CEILING.

Calm... Breathe.

OK, I'm better now.  We paid to have the ceilings painted instead of stippled, but that fact was accidentally left off of the purchase order to the painters and so they did the standard which is stipple.

I feel bad for the guys because they are going to have to scrape it all off.  We have vaulted ceilings in the staircase so that is going to be a bitch and a half to get off.

It's fixable so that the good thing.  But still that's kind of shiteous!
